We cordially invite you to join us for the annual Japanese star festival, Tanabata 七夕, at our garden. This beloved family-friendly event is a vibrant celebration of colors, craft making, and the cherished tradition of writing wishes. This year, we are delighted to extend the festivities over three days.
Tanabata finds its origins in the poignant legend of Orihime and Hikoboshi, star crossed lovers separated by the expanse of the Milky Way. Symbolizing their fleeting reunion, the evening of July 7th holds special significance, as Orihime and Hikoboshi are granted the chance to be together for a single night. In Japan, Tanabata is joyously observed through the adornment of bamboo branches with exquisite origami ornaments and tanzaku, delicate strips of paper inscribed with poems or heartfelt wishes.
